Ravens Rise Emergency Assistance Fund
The Ravens Rise Emergency Assistance Fund offers financial assistance to students who face unforeseen circumstances that prevent them from completing their college education. Funds are limited each semester, and applications will be reviewed as they are received. Students in need of tuition and textbook assistance may complete the standard general application.
Emergency aid cannot be used to pay for the following:
- Tuition, fees, textbooks, course equipment, and supplies
- Parking permits or tickets
- Credit card bills
- Entertainment, hobbies, and leisure/travel-related costs are examples of discretionary (non-essential) spending.
Guidelines:
- Applicants must be presently enrolled at San Jacinto College in at least six (6) credit hours during the fall/spring terms with the intention of completing a degree or certificate offered by the college.
- Students may only request assistance once per fall and spring semester and must be currently enrolled in the term of the request.
- The award amount is determined on a case-by-case basis.
- Funds will be disbursed directly to the student through their designated refund preference. Students are encouraged to ensure their refund preference is established or updated to receive funds. Note: BankMobile is a more efficient, secure, and convenient refund disbursement option, whereas mailed refunds may take longer. See more information on BankMobile here: https://publications.sanjac.edu/general-information/paying-college/
Procedures:
- Students must complete the emergency scholarship application in full and attach any supporting documents (e.g., eviction notice, past-due utility bill, vehicle accident repair estimates, etc.) related to the request.
- Documentation must be in the student’s name and cannot be older than 30 days. Failure to submit a complete application with supporting documentation will result in denial of aid.
Review/Award Process:
The request for emergency assistance will be reviewed, and a final decision will be made. A decision may take up to five (5) full business days from the date the student submits their request. Students will be notified of the decision via their San Jacinto College email. If an award is granted, disbursement details will be included in the notification
Please note: Incomplete requests will not be considered.
