Chesmar Foundation Teaching Scholarship

Distributions from the Fund will be used to provide scholarship awards covering tuition, ACP certification, and Open+ Books for students with a stated intent to obtain a four-year Bachelor of Applied Science in Education at San Jacinto College and enrolled in any of the following programs of study: Associate of Applied Science in Child Development or Bachelor of Applied Science in Education.

Scholarship recipients must meet the following minimum criteria:
• Be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours per semester;
Be either in-district or out-of-district; however, awards for out-of-district students shall not exceed the equivalent in-district tuition rate; and
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in program-specific coursework.

Recipients will be selected in accordance with the College’s established procedures for awarding need-based scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded for one continuous academic year and may be renewed annually, subject to the recipient’s continued eligibility with the established scholarship criteria.

As a condition of receiving the scholarship, recipients will be required to sign a pledge committing to work as an educator in a local school district for a minimum of three (3) years following completion of their degree.
