Raymond P. Miller Nursing Scholarship
Raymond P. Miller III was a proud gay man who was adored by his eight surviving siblings, his mother, Rosaleen, and his father, Raymond P. Miller II, who died before him. Raymond was a cultured gentleman who enjoyed the arts, particularly opera and old films. He, too, was a fan of classic literature and would tell you that ‘Tender is the Night’ was Fitzgerald’s best work. Thank you very much! He was really handsome and dressed beautifully, despite the fact that he was on a tight budget. He was also an ardent gardener who could transform weeding into a soothing activity. He enjoyed parties and was the first to pop the cork on a bottle of bubbly. He had been a member of the Tellepsen YMCA for about 40 years, and he cherished his small home in the Houston neighborhood known as “The Heights”. He died at the age of 64, far too soon. Raymond worked as an R.N. at West Oaks Psychiatric Hospital for many years. He was proud to be a nurse; he thought it was a noble career, and he helped a lot of people. That is why his Mother and siblings would like to honor Raymond’s memory with a nursing scholarship at his alma mater, San Jacinto College.
