Hold'Em & Hit'Em Club

Hold'Em & Hit'Em Club

The primary goal of the Hold ‘Em & Hit ‘Em Club is to support education and youth charities while, at the same time, provide a vehicle for the social gatherings of friends and families with similar desires.

The Hold ‘Em & Hit ‘Em Club was started in the mid 70’s by five men we call the “Original Five” – Bill Ogilvie, Butch Camp, Dick Stipanovic, Guy Gore, and Preston Fenn.
The club was first established as a social group to promote the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Since those modest beginnings, the club has grown to be recognized and respected as an active force in the community with approximately one hundred and sixty members (“Presidents”) and approximately twenty Honorees. The evolution into a 501 © 3 charitable organization started with a few of members challenging each other to a bar-b-que cook-off many years ago. That challenge eventually developed into the Annual Hold ‘em & Hit ‘em Bar-B-Que Cook-off, a Texas State Bar-B-Que Championship with 150 teams. Throughout the years we added a crawfish boil, with motorcycle fun run, serving approximately 6,000 pounds; a golf tournament; a Sponsorship Gala and a fishing tournament.

The Hold ‘Em & Hit ‘Em Club is currently supporting education and youth charities by giving to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo thru purchasing at the School Art Auction, and thru the Calf Scramble by donating calves, Hard Luck calves and Mystery Calf donations. We are a top tier donor to the San Jacinto College Foundation, thru which we have provided approximately $172,500 in scholarships for deserving students at San Jacinto College. We purchase animals at auctions and provide calf scramble calves at several area county fairs.

In addition to our Club’s monetary support, most of our members also donate their time as volunteers at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and also as members of area county fair committees and the Houston Farm and Ranch.

Since 1992 the Hold ’Em & Hit ’Em Club has contributed over of $1.1 million dollars to charitable & educational institutions to support the youth of Texas. None of this would be possible without event participants and sponsors like you.
