Diamonds and Dollars

Houston Diamonds & Dollars, Inc., dba Diamonds & Dollars was formed in March 1999 by women wishing to support youth, education, women, and family issues in Harris County and the surrounding areas. Diamonds & Dollars contributes year around to these important issues, both financially, as well as, through volunteer hours helping other charitable organizations with similar goals. Our organization was founded by 12 charter members and now has a membership of 50+. Diamonds & Dollars was granted its charter as a Non-Profit Corporation by the State of Texas in October 1999. In December 2000, we received our 501©(3) Non-Profit status with the Internal Revenue Service.

As we move into our 20th year we look back with great pride on the positive impact we’ve had thus far with our auction purchases, which benefit youth and education at The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo™ School Art Auction, Harris County Fair, Bellaire FFA, Lamar FFA, Baytown Youth Fair & Rodeo Unified Showmanship and other local FFA programs. We also donate, participate and/or volunteer our time to numerous organizations and causes throughout our community. Race for the Cure (Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation), JDRF One Walk, Buddy Walk, Autism Speaks Houston Walk, Wreaths Across America, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Friends with Wishes and Ritch’s Little Raiders, to name a few.

In 2002, Diamonds & Dollars initiated a scholarship program. Our recipients may range from recent high school graduates to anyone that has the interest and desire to further their education and needs financial assistance. In 2005, we made our first contribution to purchase caps and gowns for graduating students that would not have been able to walk across the stage to get their diploma. Diamonds & Dollars hosts three major fund-raising events each year, Luau, Bowling Tournament and IBCA sanctioned annual BBQ Cook-Off and several smaller events. Other means of support include cash donations from corporate and private sponsors; donations of auction items and gifts in kind. The proceeds from these events, allow us to reach even further into our community to help those in need.
